I prepared Caden's breakfast then got him ready for school.
He ate and waited for the school bus to arrive.
The school bus came and took Caden to school.
Of course the driver asked about Cody so I told him Cody is in the hospital, fighting for his life.
He was so emotional about it and asked me not to loose courage.
I went back in and freshened up, dressed up and sat down on the couch.
Bryan would have gotten everything ready by now.
I have to be relaxed so I won't mess up in the competition.
I rested on the couch, eyes closed and started taking deep breaths.
It was 8:45 so I got up to leave.
I packed my bag and headed out.
I locked the door and boarded a bus.
I arrived at the resto mins later and met Bryan already waiting for me.
"Are you ready? " He asked and I nodded.
"Did you eat? " Bryan asked and it rang in my head like a bell.
"Oh no, I forgot to eat " I blurted out.
He gazed at me for a while before laughing out.
"You forgot to eat? " he asked, still laughing so I just rolled my eyes.
"Fine! Lemme quickly make you something to eat since we still have some minutes " he said and went to the kitchen to make something.
No customer is coming in cause our notice board says "closed".
I got myself juice and sat at a table, waiting for Bryan to bring the food.
Even if we're late, before it'll get to group 3, we'd already be there.
"How's your son though? " Bryan asked and I sighed.
"You should learn to keep shut while cooking " I snarled at him.
"Oh please! Cut me some slack would you? I was just concerned " he said in a dramatic tone.
"He's fine" I replied.
"He's your brother not your son so why didn't you correct me when I said he was your son?" he asked.
"OK first! He's my son! Second, who told you he's my brother and not my son? " I asked him with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh chill, Caden told me you're his elder sister " he blurted out.
And Caden just can't keep his tiny mouth shut!
"Well, I'm still their mother whether y'all agree or not " I stated clearly.
"Here's your order ma'am " He said as he dropped the tray of French fries 🍟 on my table.
"Seriously?! " I yelled and he chuckled.
"You spent forever making just fries? And this is what you call food? " I asked and he nodded.
"Yep! That's what I call a perfect breakfast " he blurted out.
"Like Bruh, I haven't had anything this morning and you just offer me fries? Are you being for real? "I pouted.
"These are the words of a glutton" he blurted.
"I'm surrounded by idiots " I cussed and started munching on my fries.
"You're eating like a pig now but eat more faster else we'll be thrown out of the company and disqualified for being late this time" he remarked and I just glared at him and continued eating.
I was done so I gulped down some water then topped it with juice and re-drank water again.
"9:40" Bryan said.
We went out and Bryan locked the resto.
Yeah I gave him a spare key and I trust him now but not with my money yet.... Just kidding lol.
We boarded a taxi and told him the place we are headed.
I needed to check the time so I had to bring out my phone from my bag.
I gasped when I saw 3 missed calls from the hospital and the last call just ended seconds ago.
I called the hospital back several times but I don't why they weren't picking up.
"what is it? " Bryan asked when he noticed my worried mood.
"I don't know but I think something's wrong at the hospital so I have to go check " I told him.
"But the competition is in few mins time " he said.
"I know but my brother is more important "I told him.
"Driver please take us to the city hospital now "I said and he nodded and made a turn.
I was so worried I just couldn't sit still.
What happened? Is it something to be worried about? Or did my Cody wake up?
OMG! Maybe he woke up! Or maybe his condition deteriorated.
God please help me.
We arrived at the hospital and I hurried inside the hospital.
"Here " I heard Bryan, he was paying the taxi driver.
I was supposed to pay but I needed to know what's wrong.
Nurses were busy running here and there and my heart skipped.
This only happens when someone is about to die, right?
I rushed to my brothers ward and barged in.
The doctor and some nurses were there and my heart shattered when I saw the doctor giving my lil baby an electric pump on the chest.
"Cody " I whispered in tears.
"please wait outside ma'am " one of the nurses said but I ignored her.
I looked at the electrocardiogram reading my brother's heart beat and it was so low, making straight lines then zig zag.
Oh my God he's dying! My Cody is dying!
"Wait out ma'am " the nurse tried taking me out but I yanked my arm off her grip.
"Let me go! Doctor please saving him, please " I cried.
The three nurses all started pushing me out but I was fighting them to let me go.
I have to be here with Cody! I don't know what will happen if I walk out now.
They managed to me push me to the door cause I got no strength in me anymore, my Cody.
Bryan held me tight to himself at the door and took me out of the ward.
"Let me go " I cried in his arms.
"Shssh, it's okay, he's gonna be fine " he whispered soothing words to me while hugging me so tight.
"My Cody " I cried.
"He's gonna be fine, he's gonna be fine, he's gonna be fine " I kept telling myself while trying to control my tears.
I need to think of something else, I need to stop this negative thoughts of loosing Cody. He's not gonna die! He's not gonna leave me, right?
I'm just trying to convince myself but I'm not sure! God please 😭😭😭.
"The competition! Bryan the competition! Go do it Bryan, go " I said, tryna use that to occupy my mind.
"We are already late for it Amy and it's gonna end in few mins time since its two groups at a time so... We lost " Bryan blurted out and I cried more.
My baby Cody!
I lost the competition already and now it's my Cody?
My world is crashing and coming to an end 😭😭😭💔💔.
