When Amy called me to go check up on her son Cody, I quickly locked up the resto and took Caden with me.
We reached the hospital and waited for a while before it was 24 hours since Cody was ran down.
The doctor and a nurse went inside his ward and after some minutes, the doctor came to us.
He hesitated before blurting out the news to me.
"I'm sorry, we lost him" he said and walked away.
"What does he mean? " Caden asked and I looked down at him.
I ignored his question and dialed Amy's number.
She answered and I kinda felt bad cause it wasn't what she was expecting I told her.
I told her the bad news and I don't know what happened but she went silent which got me worried.
"Amy? Are you there? " I said into the phone but got no response.
"We need to go check up on your mom " I told Caden.
"She's not my mom " Caden blurted out and I stopped on my track.
"wait whah?" I asked him.
"She's not my mom " he repeated.
"Yeah I heard that buh what?"I asked him again and he gave me a weird look that made me question my intelligence.
"I mean what's she to you if she's not your mom? "
"She's my big sister" he told me and I let out a soft "oh".
I wanted to ask him about their mom but I got more important things to do like go checking up on Amy.
"Wait up " I heard the doc say behind us and we turned to him.
"He's not dead, he's not dead " the doc said and I raised an eyebrow.
"Well, he was but now he's not, his heart is beating just that's he's in coma" he narrated.
"Thank you so much " I told him and we shook hands.
Caden looked up at me and I smiled down at him.
"Your bro is fine, he just need to recover " I told him and he smiled.
Lemme try calling Amy again if she'd pick up so I'll pass on the good news.
I just hope she hasn't done anything stupid.
I dialed her number over and over again but she didn't pick it up so Caden and I decided to go check up on her at the company.

I slowly opened my eyes and let out a deep breath.
I kept my eyes fixed on the ceiling, my mind blank.
I don't know what to think about now.
"You're awake " I heard a voice beside me which made me turn to see who it was.
It was a nurse. What the heck? I'm in an hospital?
I looked around and I realized I was indeed in an hospital.
"what happened? " I asked the nurse.
"You lost consciousness that's what happened " I heard another voice and looked at the direction it came from.
I was kinda shocked when I saw Luca Devon right there.
"Uhm.. How " I asked.
"Well, we found you unconscious outside the company so I decided to show some humility than let you die " he boasted and I rolled my eyes.
"Here's your phone, it wouldn't stop ringing " he told me as he handed it over to me.
Is it just me or Luca Devon is acting cool for real?
I checked my phone and I had several missed calls from Bryan.
Oh God! Bryan! I mean Cody! My Cody!
My eyes got wet and before I could control myself, tears were already pouring down like rain.
"My Cody " I murmured as I cried.
" I need to go see him, I need to go "I blurted out and tried getting outta the bed but Luca held me down.
"Who? And why are you crying? Who do you need to see?" he asked.
"Let go of me, I have to go see him " I told him, struggling to get free of his grip.
"Calm down, we are not even sure you're fit to go out yet " he blurted out.
"For fuck sake let me go! " I yelled at him and he was taken aback.
I couldn't control my tears so I just let them pour.
Holding them back won't bring back my Cody nor will letting them out bring him back either.
"Amy " Bryan called and Caden ran to me.
Luca moved away to let Bryan Caden come to me.
I carried Caden up and hugged him so tight and cried.
"We were told you lost consciousness by the security guy at the company and he directed us here " Bryan said.
I didn't care about what Bryan was blabbering, I needed to cry it out.
I can't believe my Cody, my Cody is gone.
"Amy, Amy listen to me " Bryan said but I jet kept crying.
"I don't want to, I don't want to hear anything or else it'll bring back my baby " I cried out loud.
"Yes yes " Bryan blurted out.
I pulled away from the hug and looked up at Bryan.
"Whah? You gon bring back my baby? " I asked him.
"He's not dead " he stated and I took a minute to process his words.
"He's not dead? Meaning he's not dead! " I blurted and he nodded.
"OMG he's not dead! Oh my! My Cody! "
I was so happy, I dropped Caden down and got off the bed.
"I need to go see him, I need to go see my Cody, he must be missing me, I need to feed him, I need to carry him in my arms, he's prolly crying now " I blabbed.
"Amy " Bryan called in a low tone and I knew something was off.
"Yes? " I replied, gazing at him.
"He's in coma " he blurted out.
I stood there like a statue and breathed in and out.
Being in coma is better than being dead at least.
There's still hope for us, yeah.
"Yeah " I said almost in a whisper and nodded at him.
"Let's go " I told him and he carried Caden.
I was already at the door but I turned to Luca and looked at him.
"Thank you so much sir " I said and left.
We arrived at the hospital moments later and I rushed straight to Cody's ward.
He was still laying peacefully there so I went to sit beside him.
"You wanted to leave me? " I asked him though he was unconscious.
The thought of him leaving me crossed my mind again causing me to cry.
"They say people can still hear even when in coma so please don't leave me Cody, get well soon cause I miss you, I miss your tiny voice, I miss the prank you and Caden pull on me, I miss everything so don't you dare put me in a depressed state, I love you so much Cody " I told him and kissed his forehead.
"He's gonna be fine Amy, go get ready for the competition now cause I heard its tomorrow " Bryan said.
"I don't have the strength anymore Bryan " I told him.
"What? C'mon, you need the money, you have to pay for Cody's bills, you want him to die? " he asked and I nodded "no".
"Then you gotta be strong, do this competition and win, for Cody " he said and I nodded.
"Yeah you're right " I told him.
I kissed Cody goodbye before Caden and I went home.
We did the necessary, ate and went to bed.
Caden and I sleep together now, in my room.

My alarm went off and I woke up.
Today is D-day and I have to win.
First, get Caden ready and take him to school then get ready for the competition.
I must win!
