I just couldn’t believe my ears, I couldn’t believe this.
My Cody is awake? For real? But I was there a while back and now he’s awake?
I couldn’t contain my joy so I started crying.
The tears were so full in my eyes they kept pouring down my cheeks uncontrollably.
My baby is awake? He’s awake? I’m gonna see him? Look him in the eyes? He’s gonna call my name once again? Hug me? Smile at Me? OMG I can’t believe this.
“Why are you crying?” Caden asked.
I knelt down and hugged him tight.
“Cody is awake baby “ I told him and cried more.
“He’s awake?” He asked and I wanted to talk but couldn’t so I just nodded in tears.
“I want to see him” he said and I nodded.
I pulled away from the hug, wiped my tears and jet sniffing.
“We are gonna see him” I said and tried smiling at him but I only cried more.
I don’t know if this is a dream but I haven’t been this happy in a long while.
Bryan walked in and our eyes darted to him.
“Uhm, I kept ringing the doorbell but got no response so I had to come in “ he said.
“Why are you crying?” He asked as he walked to me.
I couldn’t talk so he just hugged me.
“Cody is awake” Caden said in his tiny voice.
Bryan looked at me, waiting for me to verify Caden’s words.
I nodded at him and smiled.
“Are we going to see him or what “ he asked and I chuckled.
“Let’s go” I told them and left.
We arrived at the hospital and ran in like some crazy beings.
We braved into his ward and there he sat, he was being examined by the doctor.
His eyes widened when he saw me and my heart started pounding out so loud that I could hear it.
“Cody” I said in a whisper.
Caden ram to him and they hugged.
I went to him and before I could even make a move, he wrapped his tiny arms around me.
“Baby “ I called, being careful not to hurt him as I hugged him.
He came back for me, he couldn’t live without me as well.
“Is je fine doc?” I asked.
“Yes Amy. Though it’s quite a miracle but he’s fine and quite strong” the doc replied.
I looked at Cody and just couldn’t stop smiling at him.
“Can I take him home?” I asked the doctor.
“I’m sorry but kit yet, we’d like to examine him more” he replied.
“I’m hungry” Cody blurted out and that made me smile.
“Yeah you should get him food now. Make sure to feed him something light and soft” the doc said and I nodded.
“I’ll go get him the food” Bryan said.
“Alright please be fast” I told Bryan cause I wasn’t even ready to leave Cody.
I want to keep staring at him, make him stay in my arms forever if possible hehehe.
Bryan left and also the doctor so I carried Caden on Cody’s hospital bed.
I grabbed the teddy bear on the desk and passed it to Cody.
“Your class mates bright them for ya “ I told Cody and he smiled.
“It’s cute” he complimented the teddy bear and I chuckled.
Cody and Caden both looked at each other and I saw that as a sign to let Cody outta my arms which I did.
They hugged each other again and it was so beautiful to watch them show love to each other.
Bryan came back with food and I fed Cody and Caden myself.
After that, Cody was tired and laid down.
The doctor asked us to let him rest and Cody was sad that we were gonna leave him which made me super sad but we had to.
Plus we’ve got some packing to do and by tomorrow, Cody can be discharged.
We all kissed Cody goodbye and I asked the doctor to get him whatever he asks for and it should be added to the bills.
We left the hospital with joy and when we arrived home, we continued packing.
It was late but we had to get it done and it’s not like we’re taking everything from the house cause we’d be back.
We’re just running to safety till that monster of a dad leaves all alone again.
Caden is ditching school tomorrow cause we have a lot going on now and we have to be fast with this.
Caden ate dinner and went to bed, leaving Bryan and I to continue packing.
It’s not like Caden was even much o fb a help since he’s just a child and he can’t even carry anything heavy so he was just packing some of their story books.
“We should ask for help” Bryan suggested and I raised an eyebrow.
“From who” I asked.
He purses his lips, hesitating to tell me and that gave me a hint.
“Don’t even think about it” I told him.
He was gonna ask Cindy for help like what the fuck?!
How the hell is he so attached to Cindy ? Cindy is my neighbor and the last time I checked, Bryan doesn’t live in the neighborhood.
I looked at him with furrowed brows, as if suspecting him and he chuckled.
OMG! Can it be that....oh my!
“Are you....Are you guys....” I stuttered and he nodded with a shy smile.
What the heck? They’re dating? How did it even happen? I had no idea.
‘Well girl, you’re life has been one hell of a busy journal’ my subconscious snapped.
“For how long?” I asked him.
“I’m bad with dates so I guess you should ask her “ he blurted out and I threw him a glare.
“The first time I visited your house, she made the first move and she was beautiful so I decided to try her out” he said.
“And....” I continued for him.
“And I fell in love with her” he completed and I smiled.
Good for him.
“I’m happy for you” I told him.
“Thanks” he replied.
“I just hope she doesn’t suffocate you with her attitude “ I told him.
“I talked to her about it and she’s ready to change “ he said ina soft voice making me look up at him.
“Just give her a chance to” he said with puppy eyes.
“Alright fine! Just for you” I stated and he jumped up in joy.
He ran out and came back with Cindy a minute later.
She stood at the door, not making eye contacts with me.
She was shy and prolly guilty of her bad character.
“ you can come in” I told her and she just stared at me with a smile.
“I’m really sorry “ she blurted out and I nodded.
“It’s ok” I told her.
I’m just so happy today cause my Cody is awake so I pardon her.
She joined us in packing and after what seemed like ages, we were done.
We all collapsed on the door and started panting like people who were involved in a marathon race.
“So now, we just have to move these to the other hosue” I said.
“We can use my dad’s car “ Cindy suggested and we nodded in agreement.
“That would make it easier for me” I told her and she smiled.
“Going somewhere?” We heard.
It was my dad’s voice and when I looked around, I saw him at the window.
Oh no.
My eyes darted to the door and it was open then it darted back to his and he was smiling.
