Chapter 12 🌻

This has got to be a dream, a nightmare.

"Wait! " Luca said and stood up. 

"There must be a mistake " he said.

A mistake, yeah.

"Yes! I think there's a mistake cause that's not the winner's name you called " one of the judges said. 

"OK, my hope is coming back to life but chill, it might not be you" I told myself.

The speaker went over to the judges and gave them the piece of paper they had wrote the winner's name on. 

"Is there a mistake? " the speaker asked the judge who wrote the name. 

"Yes" he replied.

"This the real paper here and that one was the old one we made when we haven't tasted the winner's food yet, we thought Larissa was the best till we tasted hers " the judge said. 

"Pardon me though, my eyes defection is deteriorating, here's the real name "he said and handed the speaker another piece of paper. 

My heart started another race of beating and pounding like there was no tomorrow. 

"Calm down " Bryan told me and I nodded. 

"We are really sorry for that misconception, we apologize for that " the speaker said. 

Oh please, go straight to the point already. 

"So the winner in group 3 is.. "

Bish just let it out! 

"The winner is Amy Caesar! "She screamed out and my lips automatically curved into a smile. 

"We won " I said with so much happiness. 

"OMG we won "I told Bryan and we started chuckling. 

"We fucking fun !" I kept screaming. 

"I can't believe I won! Woo-hoo! We won! Yeah we won! " I kept screaming. 

Bryan nudged me on the arm and I noticed everyone gazing at me like I was crazy or something. 

"It's not even the final competition yet and you're already going crazy" Bryan remarked. 

I chuckled softly and apologized to the judges for having to witness my craziness.

I kept smiling all through cause I was so happy. 

Bryan and I left cause it was time for other groups to do theirs and we were not interested cause we already won. 

I saw the disappointment on Larissa's face and I felt pity for her. 

It's not for her so she shouldn't sulk over it too much. 

I met Caden at home, he was already back from school. 

He ran to me when he saw me and I carried him up. 

He already changed into his home clothes and was watching TV. 

"Did you eat? " I asked him. 

"Yeah, cookies " he replied. 

I pecked his cheek and made him sit on the couch. 

"So what do you want me to make for dinner?" I asked him. 

"Lasagna, garlic bread, peanut butter and jelly sandwich and fries" he blurted out and he got me falling off the couch in laughter. 

So much? Just for dinner? Oh Caden 😂.

"Baby 😂. You want so much just for dinner? I mean where you gonna keep them? Inside this tiny stomach of yours? " I teased him and tickled his tummy.

He laughed which made me laugh more so I just took him in my arms and kissed him all over.

"OK let's do it like this : we'll have lasagna for dinner tonight, garlic bread for breakfast tomorrow and peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner tomorrow. You can have fries anytime you like but not tonight, alright? " I told him and he nodded.

"Go bring your bag lemme see if you were given assignments " I told him and he ran upstairs to get his bag. 

I brought out my phone and I was kinda surprised when I saw several missed calls from the school. 

They must have been worried why Cody hasn't been in school. 

I called the school back cause the school wasn't closed yet. 

The principal picked up and when he asked about Cody, I told him everything. 

He was so sorry about it and wished me good luck. 

He also said they kept asking Caden about it but he wouldn't say anything. 

Yeah, that's typical Caden.

Caden came back with his bag and we both sat on the couch.

"Any assignment?" I asked as I unzipped his backpack. 

"Yep " he replied, not even paying attention to me. 

I took out his books and went through them all till I found the homework.

I guided Caden on how to do it and held his hand in some part. 

We were done so I asked him to go keep his bag. 

I went to the kitchen and got set to make lasagna.

I brought out the pot and the recipes and got to work. 

I was done minutes later so I went up to freshen up. 

The smile I had from the competition was still plastered on my face. 

I'm gonna win, I have to. 

I stripped off, went into shower and tidied up. 

I put on my pajamas and asked Caden to come lemme bath him. 

He said he already freshened up though I get wasn't clean but I just made him wear his pyjamas. 

I served our food, placed Caden on the table and started feeding him.

The smile on my face wore off as I fed Caden. 

I was supposed to be feeding two people, my Cody was supposed to be sitting beside Caden by now. 

Caden smiled at me as I fed him which brought back the smile on my face.

I ate as I fed Caden and when we were done, we went up to our room and slept off.

Morning soon came and I had to drag my hard working ass outta the bed.

Twas a Wednesday morning and my life isn't as it used to be before so I don't hurry up to get to work anymore. 

I got Caden ready for school and fed him the garlic bread he requested last night. 

I kissed him goodbye and he went to school in the bus as usual.

I tidied up, ate breakfast and went to work. 

I arrived at the resto on bus and you can guess as usual, Bryan was already selling.

I wonder what I'd do without him. 

"Good morning " I greeted him with a smile.

He froze on his spot for a moment before looking around him. 

"Did you just greet me? " he asked sarcastically. 

"Oh please, I'm being nice you should appreciate it " I remarked and he scoffed. 

"Here's a coffee ma'am, pour in your kindness and gulp it down your throat " he teased. 

"Idiot! " I told him and went over the credenza.

"Take your spot while I take mine " I ordered and he just rolled his eyes and went to the door. 

I put on my apron and went to collect orders from the customers. 

My phone buzzed and I took it out. 

It was a message from the company about the competition. 

All winners are to be present there tomorrow.

Bryan and I glanced at each other cause we both received the message and chuckled.

I was still on my phone when the bell on the door jingled meaning someone just entered but I didn't bother looking up as I was so focused on my phone. 

The person took closer steps and I could feel him closer to me which made me curious. 

I raised up my head and my jaw dropped when I saw Luca Devon staring at me. 

Oh no! What the hell is he doing here now? 

The other day he came was to disqualify us now what?
