Forced Marriage (Episode 53)

Chapter 53

4 months had passed now with everything right in its own hands. The cold snow had started covering the trees becoming white. Only cold intolerant plants grew now. Some had already started decorating houses. Preparing for the upcoming festivities.

"Hey, you're always sitting on the window. Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, everything is alright Marcos. I'm just watching the snow."

"Are you thinking about your boyfriend Liam." He teased.

"I'm not thinking about Liam..." she said looking back a the snow.

"Then you won't get angry if I tell you I have invited my friends."

"Why would I be angry at that?"

"Well, because I called two of your friends here since my friends are coming over today."

"Why did you do that Marcos. I don't want anyone here."

"Sorry, you've been lonely lately. I just thought that you could use some company. You're always sitting here and staring at the front yard as if you're expecting someone."

"You know what, don't bother. So who did you call."

"Stephanie, and Kira, I think so."

"Atlist you called someone relevant," she smiled then stared at the window again. It didn't take long before she saw two cabs lining up outside.

"Hey Marcos, they are here. Tell Steph to come here," she said looking at them through the window.

"Yeah, sure," he agreed and headed downstairs immediately. It didn't take long before Stephenie reached Ruby's room. She too found Ruby sitting in the window watching the snow.

"Hey girl. What's up? And why are you staring at the window like you're waiting for someone?" She asked leaning on the door.

"I don't know Steph. Just that..."

"Don't tell me it includes Liam," she looked at her unbelievably.

"No, no... It doesn't," Ruby turned avoiding Stephanie's eyes.

"Yes it does. Don't try to denie it."

"Does it really show?"

"Yeah, it does," she sat besides her. "So are you going to tell me what's up with you and Liam that makes you state at the window like that."

"Well. Liam returned from varsity 3 weeks ago. But he didn't even text, call and inform me about any of it. He just went blank. I don't even know what to think anymore."

"Did you try texting him, or calling him instead."

"I did text him, but he never replied. And you know that I never double text someone."

"Okay, did you try like checking what's going on with him on media. Any new pictures, videos, something that might give you a clue."

"I did... And nothing."

"Ouch girl, but you need to stop sulking like this. You know what. For get boys, they are jerks."

"I know, I know. But jerks? Are you really saying that? You?"

"Ohh... Sorry girl. I forgot to inform you. I broke up with Ken last week. And now I'm trying to eat at it."

"Ouch. Told you that you wouldn't last," she laughed. "So you want to eat at it huh?"

"Well, we could go eat at our favourite place. They've even added the menu. Just like every after school... Plus Kira is already on her way."

"What are we still doing here?"

"I'll text Kira to meet us there. You should probably change."

"I'll be done in a second," she said and changed immediately. It didn't take long before she came out and they headed to the restaurant.

They already found Kira waiting for them outside.

"Kira, why are you not inside? Aren't you freezing out here?"

"I am. But I don't know if you'll be happy about getting inside Ruby."

"Whati do you mean by that?" Stephenie asked.

"Liam is here. She's with another girl. Look at there." she pointed out through the window.

"Yeah right..." Ruby felt pissed.

"What are we going to do. Should we change places?" kira asked looking at Ruby who seem emotionless.

"We came to eat right. That's what we're going to do. We won't change restaurants just because my boyfriend is cheating on me... We'll just see how he tries to explain himself," she said in a painful voice.

"You're not planning anything stupid. Right?" Steph asked looking concerned for Ruby."

"Don't worry. I won't do anything stupid."

"Good," they all headed inside and took a sit at their usual corner. Liam kept on staring at Ruby. Expecting her to come to him. But no. She looked like she was having fun with her friends.

"Hey, why are you staring at them," the girl asked Liam wondering the sudden change in him.

"It's nothing. I'll be back." He stood up and headed to Ruby's table.

"Afternoon."

"Hi Liam," Steph and Kira replied.

"Can I have a word with you Ruby? Please."

"Yeah sure," she agreed standing up and excused herself while her friends watched her.

"Are you okay?" Liam asked looking concerned.

"I don't know. Am I?" She replied in a negative tone.

"Ruby, I can explain everything."

"Well I'm waiting them."

"Look, things have been a little hectic so far..." she got stopped.

"But you're having the best laugh of your life life. And you know what. I don't want to talk anymore. She's coming," she pointed out to the girl who was sitting with Liam. She was already wearing her jacket and held Liam's jacket.

"Ohh, you mean Rebecca?"

"Hey Liam. Mom just called. She said we must go, the snow might get heavy and the road is slippery," she held Liam's hand while staring at Ruby.

"Yeah, sure. I'll meet you in the car."

"We should go now Liam." Rebecca demanded.

"I said..." He got interrupted by Ruby.

"You should probably go. It's for the best. Even I don't want anything to happen to you. Safe travels," she walked away and joined her friends.

"Ruby please...."

"Liam, let's go. You can see that she doesn't want to talk to you." Rebecca said and he did so.
