Forced Marriage (Episode 47)
Chapter 47
A week had passed with Lauren locked inside the house. She had lost weight. Her skin had become more pale. She refused to eat. Nor speak to anyone. She would sleep with tears in her eyes and wake up with them. She held her herself responsible for everything that had happened. For a moment, she wished she was dead. But instead, she had turned into a living zombie.
She sat in front of the mirror, looking at her terrible self in the mirror. Nothing excited her anymore. Her entire body, look, attitude had already explained the state she was in.
Aaron would come each day to check on her. Reminding her of the capabilities of his anger, his deeds. Prouding herself as if he had all the power in the world. Every dream she had always turned out to be a nightmare.
A knock came in. She didn't bother replying, nor look at who it could be.
"Excuse me ma'am. We're here to fix you up for your wedding."
All this words said by the artist beside her didn't make a single impression in her. They didn't surprise her a bit. They just walked closer and prepared her. But not even make up and a white dress covered all those emotions she held inside of her.
Making it simpler, they covered her face with a vail to diclose all the pain relevant in her eyes.
A new type of breeze got Lauren's eyes to move around the room. She felt her own heart beat for a moment, making her realise that she herself wasn't aware of what was happening to her.
She looked at herself, the white dress, the makeup artist standing next to her.
"I'm sorry but I need to wash my face." She stood up and hurried to the bathroom leaving the artist with wide open mouth. It didn't take her long before she had returned. She looked little better now.
"Shall we do it again ma'am?" One of the artist asked Lauren seeing that she looked better now.
"No, no makeup. Thank you."
"Alright," they said covering her face with the vail again.
"Excuse me. I'm here to pick up the bride."
Without wasting time, Lauren stood up and hurried down to the car. Surprising everyone. Her behaviour didn't match with the way she was before everyone came. Everything seemed to change rapidly.
She stood at the drivers door and waited for the driver to come. Every other driver looked at her as if she had lost her mind. They started preparing themselves for her out come. Thinking that she was going to escape.
"Can I please drive. I haven't driven a car in a while. Can I please," she asked pleading with the driver.
"I'm sorry Mrs Scott... Umm.. I mean miss Lauren. But I can't let you drive," the driver replied making Lauren look at him more clearly. He immediately looked away but Lauren could tell that this person knew her. Not only did the voice sound familiar, he was also the reason he felt a cool breeze.
"Fine, I'll sit on the other side, but tell me. Who sent you to come here," she whispered.
"I'm sorry ma'am. I'm just doing my job, can we please go now?"
"Atlist tell me something good."
"She's fine. Both of them." He whispered avoiding eye contact with her. This time, Lauren got in the car without any questions. All the pain and heart ache had been released.
For a moment, she thought that she had lost it all. But no. She had to thank God for protecting her only soul.
All the cars drove in a single file with Lauren in the middle car. She was quiet, waiting for the next move that this driver was going to do. She realised that he had been peeking on her, but didn't want to show his face to her.
"I don't get it. I know you but I can't tell who you really are," Lauren finally broke the silence in the car.
"Jayden. You only saw me at your wedding with Danny."
"That rings the bell. But, why are you here?"
"Well, I have been working with Aaron for a few months before I discovered all these. The kidnapping, your daughter and the relations you share with Aaron."
"It's all crazy, isn't it?"
"Yes. But not everything goes according to plan. And mostly, the good always seems to be the ones."
"Yeah, right."
A little giggle could be heard from Jayden looking at the reaction on Lauren's face.
"Can you please fasten your seat belt, it's about to get wild," he sat sitting properly and holding the wheel with his two hands.
Just as told, Lauren fasten her seat belt. The car took a quick turn with the other cars following them. Wild racing started making cars in the streets clear a path for them. Crossing the road road was no longer unsafe for all.
Lauren could feel his her head spinning, her stomach groin in complain. Everything felt a bit fuzzy as the car kept on turning changing streets in seconds. The speed was intense. She had only seen people drive like this only in moves, but here she was, in fast and furious. She looked at Jayden only to see that he was smiling and seemed stress out. He looked at her and laughed at her impression.
Suddenly the car came to a stop in a packing lodged with many cars there.
"Come on, we need to change cars before they spot us," he got out immediately and headed out for a red sports car opposite to the packing they had packed.
Without wasting time, she held the white dress and ran following him. This time, he drove less scarier than before. Lauren was able to breath fresh air clearly now without feeling any dizziness and fuzziness in the stomach.
...
The car came to a stop in front of a hotel. Lauren looked at Jayden questionly about the the sudden movement but he only looked at her and said nothing. He pulled out his phone and dialled a number then gave the phone to her.
Again, she looked at him while placing the phone in her ear, but he got out and headed to the receptionist at the hotel.
"Hey man, it's been so long," Lauren heard Danny's voice. His tone was one of those who are stress out. Enjoying life as nothing bad had happened to them.
