Forced Marriage (Episode 29)

Chapter39

"So tell me, why are you here?"

"I came to meet Liam." She gave of a small blush.

"That's good to know that you guys are still together."

"We have our own complications, but we fix forgive and forget."

"Now I'm taking lessons from you," they both laughed, but looking at the time, it was getting a bit late for Lauren and Aurora. They had to much to do. Especially finding the right person to watch Aurora.

She left just when Liam came to the restaurant. Leaving that admiration to those who were looking at her.

...
......

Unloading everything wasn't easy. For a moment, she wished that Amanda was with her. She remembered how helpful she was, and in return, she never asked for anything. Instead, she would ask to stay with Aurora when she goes to the office.  Atlist everything in the kitchen was already set. She fixed dinner for the both of them and in no time they digested. It didn't take long before they fell asleep on the couch while watching cartoons.

Lauren's phone rang waking her from her sleep. Looking at who was calling, it was her mother. She picked up the call and went to the bedroom.

"Mom," she said in a sleepy voice.

"So you don't tell your mother that you've come back home. Am I a stranger now my?" She asked in an upset yet concerned voice.

"No. I arrived today. I had things to do," she said while fixing the bed

"So when are you coming to visit us before we attend your welcoming dinner at the Scott house?"

"I'm not mom, plus the dinner is this weekend. Only 3 days to go and you'll see me there."

"Not only did you stop calling me when you were away. But you don't want to see your mother, and father. How are we supposed to know how you are?" She said feeling hurt.

"Why are you making it a being deal now mom?"

"I haven't seen my daughter for 2 years, Now that she has returned, she refuses to come see her own mother. Off cause it's a big deal." She sounded more upset now.

"Look mom, I have to go. I'll call you tomorrow." She said when she heard Aurora's voice. Immediately, she went to her and brought her to the bedroom. She looked at Aurora fall asleep again before her mind drifted off.

She wondered how she was going to break the news of Aurora to her mother. She wondered how the news will affect all her loved ones. For a moment, she was thankful that the doctor had told Harper about the pregnancy, and it was easy to break the news to Ruby, but what about her other family members. What will she tell them exactly. And having to explain everything from the start again. At the same time, she was tired of hiding. She shook her head in denial of defeat so soon.

"Weekend," she said to herself. "Don't worry baby. Mommy will sort things out. She's tough," she said sleeping close to Aurora. But yet again, another call distabbed her.
It was a number she didn't know. She answered only to find out that work is calling her. And she hadn't found a nanny.

....

Lauren woke up and called the office. She told someone to arrange a small area where Aurora could play while she was in a meeting. Everything got arranged immediately. After a little while, she woke her daughter up and prepared her,and herself as well.

They headed a bit early than expected. Lauren check the erea and how it was. She wanted the place to be transparent to the room where the meeting was taking place. It was small, but it looked perfect. She asked one of the guards to be close by. She feared her daughter's life. She was her life, her everything.

A call from Ruby came and without wasting time, she picked it up.

"Hi, Lauren."

"Hy Ruby. Hows everything there?"

"Everything is fine here. Everyone said they will be here weekend. Are you home?"

"No, I'm at the office. I have a meeting to attend to."

"And Aurora? Do you need help? I can come you know."

"I know, but you have school and I don't want you to miss out any lessons. Do me a favor, could you look for a Nanny for Aurora."

"I can be the Nanny you know," a little laugh came from Ruby. "I'm kidding, I'll look for a Nanny." She said and afterwards, she hung up.

The meeting started out rough, with Lauren being criticised for her past life, and to whom would the child's father be. But she stood strong and deprived of their thoughts. She showed them that she was more stronger without a man in her life. She spoke for all single moms in the entire world, and at the end of the meeting, she walked out proudly with her child in her hands.

.....

Just as told, Ruby set out to find the perfect Nanny for Aurora. She set out the word and intervened with those who replied. She chose who looked perfect and was set to start her job on the upcoming week. Then she waited for the weekend to arrive so she could arrange for the dinner party.

For a moment she wished that her brother was still around. And he was still as responsible as before. She grabbed her phone and called him, but as always, he didn't answer. Later on she got a call from Ryan asking what she wanted. She  asked Ryan why he was doing all that Danny, but he would only ask if she didn't consider him as her brother like Danny.

That answer irritated Ruby because she felt as if Danny was taking Ryan as a worker, or some personal assistant. Again, she thought that her brother deserved what Lauren did to her as a punishment.

....
Everything was arrange and now she waited for everyone to arrive. She told the workers to make sure that everything is set ut perfectly and the rooms since they'll be sleeping in.

Her excitement was beyond her own expectations. She looked up to Lauren a lot. She was hurt whenever Lauren was hurt. And now that Lauren was back, she wanted to show her that she is never alone.

"Evening Mrs Scott."

"Good evening," Kim greeted them with a hug and a smile.

"It's good to see you again."

"I'm feeling the same way. Maybe we should do these dinners more often."

"Agreed," Lauren's mother said taking a sit that Kim had offered her while Harper greeted Thomas, Lauren's father.

Marcos came to greet her parents as well. Though he would visit them from time to time, he would miss them a lot, especially her sister who he hasn't seen in 2 years.

"So do you know when Lauren is coming."

"Only Ruby knows that. I heard that there is a surprise."

A frown settled on Lauren's mother thinking of what kind of a surprise it could be. She prayed for a moment that it won't be something that will hurt Lauren. Ruby came downstairs. She greeted and smiled seeing that everyone was here.

"Dinner is set and ready, Lauren just messaged me saying that she's at the gate. She will be in any moment from now."

"Should we go wait for her outside?" Lauren's mother asked eager to see her.

"No, I don't think she will like it if we did that. It already took time to convince her to come here."

"Ruby is right. Let's not set all our eyes on her like that or she might escape." Thomas added and everyone laughed.

.....
"Baby girl."

"Mommy!" Little Aurora called out loud.

"Do you know where we are?"

Aurora looked out the window then looked at Lauren again. "Castle Mommy, we at a castle." She excitedly said looking at the huge mension. The car came to a stop and she immediately got out with Lauren behind her.

"No baby, this is your grandparents house. Do you remember auntie Ruby."

"Auntie Ruby, auntie Ruby,"she called out.

Total silence enveloped in the room when they heard noises of a child coming outside. Unable to hold her excitement, Ruby went to the door while everyone questioned themselves except for Harper.
